Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking to fill a DIRECT HIRE Journeyman Millwright for a client located in Northern California.

The Journeyman Millwright will lead the maintenance team in the design, fabrication, installation, service, repair, troubleshooting, and certification of all sawmill machinery, equipment, conveyor systems, lifts, cranes, and all associated sawmill material handling equipment



Millwright Duties and Responsibilities

Installation/removal and maintenance of all sawmill material conveying systems according to manufactures specifications and company standards.


Test and certify that repairs are completed and properly installed for restart.


Support preventative maintenance programs; work as an integral part of the maintenance team.


Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.


Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.


Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.


Effectively communicate with coworkers when notified of breakdowns.


Follow all lockout / tag out, hot work permit and confined space procedures.


Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.


Document and record all maintenance processes and procedures including change orders and modifications.


Troubleshoot more complicated maintenance problems and provides technical direction to other millwrights as required.





Millwright Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of Millwright experience in a Manufacturing environment.


Or equivalent combination equaling 7,000 hours on the job training and 350 hours classroom time


Experience in the design and structure of a sawmill is preferred.


Working knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller Software, a plus.


Demonstrates safe work practices including LOTO, Hot work permits & Equipment Operation with a strong working knowledge with OSHA safety codes.


Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and/or Lean Manufacturing knowledge and experience is a plus.


Experience in Facility Layout, Process Flow Mapping and PLC/HMI software.


Ability to handle all types of tools and various mechanic systems, strong knowledge and understanding of belt systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.


Advanced math skills (algebra) to make calculations and apply general geometric concepts; and troubleshooting skills.


Certified and five plus years MiG, Tig, Stick and Flux welding.


Demonstrated ability in installing, leveling, aligning, servicing, and certifying installed sawmill machinery and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.


Demonstrated ability in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctioning apparatus such as motion controls, saws and cutting tools, motors and gearing.


Mechanical knowledge & aptitude


Trained in hydraulics, pneumatics, vibration analysis, laser alignment.


Demonstrated ability in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.


Must possess a valid California Drivers' license and be eligible to operate a company vehicle under company policy guidelines.





Millwright Physical Requirements:

Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.


Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.


Occasionally required to smell.


Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.


Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.


Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.


Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places.


The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.

FULL RELOCATION PACKAGE


Medical / Dental / 401k w/match


$36.65 - $41.65 per hour


Swing shift differential : $2.50


Graveyard shift differential : $5.00
